Moneypenny Minute: Your Finance Moment
August 22, 2024The Widow Barbe-Nicole Clicquot film came out this summer and it tells the story of how a woman who inherited a vineyard was able to turn these grapevines into a successful champagne empire. The Veuve Clicquot brand continues to rule the sparkling wine industry today! Through bravery, grit, cleaver marketing and strategic business planning, the Widow Clicquot was able to do what few of her female wine making peers were able to do. Whether you watch the film or read the book by Tilar J Mazzeo about her, you will find yourself entertained and inspired to push yourself to find the passion that fuels you financially. As a financial planner, I find it fascinating the way that Widow Clicquot was able to take a resource, grapes from a specific region, develop the perfect product, champagne, during a politically unsettling time, WWI, to reach her financial goal of supporting herself and her family. In the Pacific NW, it is exciting to see other women in the wine and spirit industry taking on similar challenges and finding great success. I also love seeing the diverse wine producers collaborating and lifting each other up, there’s power in lifting others.
